The News Stand
Your daily dose of news, sports and weather, all checked for TV-friendliness.
News
CNN. If you're not watching it, you can surf it. Updated constantly. Although you can't view the videos, this site frequently contains RealAudiotm content that you can hear.
USA Today. Generally quite TV-friendly, and updated throughout the day. No wonder it's featured frequently on the WebTV home page.
The New York Times. All the news that's fit for HTML? This link takes you directly to the "low graphics" contents page -- perfect for quick WebTV navigation. If you want the picture version (with a pesky image map for navigation), select this link.
Christian Science Monitor. Always one of the best, and one of the best on the Net as well. Link to the Monitor Radio or the RealAudio links in the stories -- choose the 28.8 channel for the best sound.
US News and World Report. Very TV-friendly! (Other than one annoying imagemap.) Recommended!
Time Magazine. Good content, updated daily, and TV-friendly. Plus, you save $2.95 over buying the magazine, and no trees are destroyed.
Sports
ESPNET Sportzone. Can't decide between watching sports on TV and surfing the Web? Surf over to this spot for some of the best general sports coverage on the Web. The colors can be a little hard to read , but there's neither frames nor Java, and the content is great and up-to-date.
SI Online from Sports Illustrated. And in this corner is the contender for the best sport spot. It's new, easier than ESPNet to read, and you can play Fantasy (like Rotisserie) Football for a mere $39.95 more a season.
SportsLine. But wait -- three can play this game! It's easy to read, looks good on WebTV, and is coming up fast on the inside rail. Which do YOU think is the best?
Golf Digest's golf.com. If you're a golf fan, there's a lot of things that you'll do for the game (like getting up early for a tee time), right? Then you won't mind scrolling down and down and down again to get all the info in this otherwise-excellent site.
The Nando.net Sports Server. A lighter sports site, mostly links, but very good-looking on WebTV.
The Sporting Green. A new sports spot with good info that is excellent on WebTV. These guys deserve a hand (and a link) for a truly TV-friendly spot, even if it happened by accident.

Weather
Pathfinder Weather. General national forecast, a form to get your local weather, and links to US and international weather maps.
The Weather Channel. Looks good, works well on WebTV, and has all the weather you're used to on the cable channel without having to wait through everyone else's forecast.
Earthwatch. A great site, brought to you by the people who do those cool 3D weather maps and animations for your local TV station. Now you can have it any time you want it. TV-friendly.
Intellicast. Every time we've tried to reach this site, it's been very slow to come in. But if you can get it, it's got good forecasts, weather maps, and radar and satellite images that are updated on a regular (and posted) basis. Nice looking and easy to navigate on WebTV.
The National Weather Service. Straight from the source of the data, with the straight scoop and very easy and straight-forward navigation on WebTV (amazing on a government site).
