[Well, if you love gold, and who doesn't, then you will be awed by the gold graphics and especially the gold eggs. If you are looking for graphics, stop in and check out the variety offered in her 200 plus pages. There are tools, lines and backgrounds and a color cube. If games the name, step right in and have a ball! Oh, and she has a page on ferrets. She has 13 of 'em!--ck]
Let me introduce this website's owner, Ferretmom, but in the real world she is known as Carol Marion. She resides in Long Island, New York. Carol is a mother of five children, three daughters, and two sons. Plus, she is the grandmother of three with another due at any time.
Carol's children first introduced her to WebTV as a Christmas present in 1998. When she first came online, she discovered all the decorated e-mails and was determined to learn HTML, so she could design her own e-mail. This is when Carol discovered Draacs and several other sites with HTML tutorials and memorized everything she could.
WebTV gave Carol the ability to meet and make friends. This is how she met her best friend and partner, Regina Foran, shortly after starting her first homepage.
Web design is Carol's favorite past time. Besides designing her own websites, she loves designing for others as well. Here are several other sites which Regina and Carol have created. Haunting Memories, Care Web Design, Angels' Bridge, R&C Gif Manor, and The Gold Vault which is part of R&C Gif Manor, that was Regina's idea.
Carol soon discovered how to make graphics and animations on her computer, and when Regina suggested she make some ferrets in gold, "I surprised her with a lot more than ferrets. LOL." Carol loves making gold things and once she started, she hasn't been able to stop. They soon ran out of space at their original site and opened The Vault #2.
Carol said, "This site was created because of a need for a 100% WebTV friendly gold site. Too many sites that offer gold have so many restrictions with their creations that it makes the gold unusable or for email only." They wanted to build a "share with our community" site where their only request is a link back so others are able to find them.
The Gold Vault has over 200 pages and about 10MB of gold. They have gold and precious gems of every description. From lines, backgrounds, names, phrases, calligraphy scrolls, charms of all sorts, apple slices to animals, are just a few examples. All their gold is on transparent backs so it can be used with many colors.
R&C Gif Manor has much more than gold. They have graphics of all types in easy to navigate categories. You'll find backgrounds, tools, a color chart and a color cube. There's Wacky Whimsy pages with loads of games. Plus if you like awards, they offer contests that you can join. You get an award for just signing up and all 40 sites on the 1st page of R&C's Topsite Contest, receive an award at the end of each month.
Some improvements Carol would like to see with WebTV is the ability to store and link to the graphics that everyone uses in their sigs. "Most of the servers we use to build our sites on have blocked all linking of graphics, midis and wavs. I know it's possible to link to the graphics in our WebTV Scrapbook, but most people are not aware of the trick, plus it's against WebTV's TOS. We really need a solution to this problem."
With Carol's wonderful graphics, I can see why so many would like to show them off in their e-mail. Just a tremendous website. ~sman
