My Tripod.com site was one that was deleted and subsequently "restored." However, at
this point I still cannot upload again since the incident. The file manager section
of my site does allow me access now but is not functional. Other methods of
uploading such as FTP and Frontpage publish option are similarly ineffective.
As my site is one that frequently needs to be updated daily, and sometimes more than
once per day, this deficit is not an insignificant one.
Thanks for keeping an eye on this episode. It has been a pretty significant pain and
has given me the incentive to move to a commercial host in the very near future.

It's been 48 hours and still nothing. No I was NEVER informed about
their intentions to delete their material. Thanks for your info ,if not
for you I would have been clueless of what was happening. Keep me

As you can see by the blank squares on my page Tripod has not restored
the use of their sites for our e-mail pages. What's up w/ that ?

Hi... my site is still deleted. I have a flash message that says it was
a mistake but it is still deleted at this hour. I have never had any
notice of violation.

I didn't lose my site I just losed everything that was in it.Absolutely
everythng. My site was just Links to other fellow webtv'ers. Help sites
and Background sites. Tricks and tips almost everything about webtv.
Transloaders to color charts.
It was called New Improved F-Keys.

My site was deleted this weekend , deleted saturday March 17 to be
exact. As of 8:45 tonight it was still not restored.
I never received any notification of any sort from them. However, I do
have a 'newsflash' when I try to log in to tripod stating that my site
was deleted by error and they were working hard to restore all sites.
I was registerd with the e-mail address of [DELETED FOR PRIVACY] and my
member name was [DELETED FOR PRIVACY]. I had a site about my family,
friends and poetry. I had been at Webtv Pagebuilder and had only started
transferring the site to tripod the week before and had it mostly all
there. I lost everything.
Is there anyway you can help me ?

They have deleted my files no letter. Just deleted them. My site was a
story telling about me where I came from,who I am. They didn't send me
anything saying they were going to do this.

I have not received Email notification of any kind from Tripod or
Terra/Lycos.
My File Manager directory was totally "cleaned out" while I was editing
a new file which had not yet been saved into the directory.
Upon finishing the first draft, and clicking "save this version", then
returning to my directory - I was dumbfounded that the new file was the
only entry !!
The time was approximately 11:45am Pacific on Saturday 3/17/01.
My site was titled "Norm's Racket" and its pages consisted of a wide
variety of topics.
To name a few:
ASTRO (space, astronomy, cosmology)
CHAT (only for Net4TV's Chat4TV access)
ESOTERICA - paranormal, philosopy, relligion, and Unexplained phenomena
MUSIC - Mostly Classic Rock genre - R/A and MIDIs (all MIDI files
located in this directory)
NEWS-POLITICS - links to current events coverage
RADIO - for RealAudio radio webcast feeds (all .ram META files were my
versions and located in this directory)
SPORTS - News links for Motorsports, Football, Baseballl
REFERENCE Library
TOOLS and WTV Upgrade Info
UPDATES - for new additions - to be posted to proper pages
My account used 48.5MB of storage - of the 50MB allowed.
Since it is now nearing 5:30pm Pacific, it is a day LATER than Tripod's
assurance that all members accounts would be restored
I would appreciate just a short note from you to let me know if my
situation is unusual. I would be comforted if there are still many
others reporting in to you, AND that accounts are continuing to be
restored.

I have various pages there...but the MAIN one is a HELP SITE. A site
that "personalizes" graphics for webbies that don't know how... and,
NO, I did NOT receive a TOS notification from Tripod!! :-(

I did receive notification from Colin at Tripod that I had been
'spamming' AFTER I had written Tripod, there was no notification before.

My site was deleted from Tripod on the 9th of March. I was not
notified by email of this action. I went to login and I received a
newsflash..violation of terms message. I then wrote their abuse address
asking for an explanation and finally yesterday 20th of March I received
an email stating they accidentally removed my site and would restore it
shortly. Since then I have tried to login there again and I get a
newsflash apology message from them stating they are working on
restoring my site.As of 6:20PM eastern time on the 21st of March I still
have no access to my site. Is there anything you can do to help?
My site has various things on it from
a celebrity site of Jennifer Love Hewitt to a Pittsburgh Steelers
graphics site as well as greeting cards. That's some of the main things
I have there.

I just want to let you know that my site
was also shut down. I freaked...I am
a professional web designer using a
MAC so I don't think Tripod was
targeting at all. I was very dissapointed
that they did not post the reasons on
their site stating that they are having
technical problems. That is bad
business and I am sure people are going
to flock from Tripod. I contacted through
emails.....dozens, even called the
headquarters trying to figure out what
happened to my page and why I was no
longer a member. I have learned my lesson
and feel that Tripod can not be trusted.
I have taken my site down and moved it
to a regular .com at inkk.net. Bye bye

I writing concerning my site at Tripod. I
was never notified by tripod that I was in error with my account. I'm
not sure why my site was deleted but would at least like to have it
restored long enough to remove my images.

This 'thing' with Tripod is way bigger than just webtv users !! They
have hurt the entire www !!! Sites that had links to the pages that were
deleted, or to pages that moved before the were, will no longer be any
good ! And how do we find where these people have gone ? Maybe a search
engine, but look at the time and trouble !! So Tripod has hurt Every web
server, Every web surfer, and Every page builder ! Just my 23Ÿ¢
worth ! 8^)

Dear Net4TV,
Mr. Dennis Reno has already enlisted a memeber of Micorsoft to help on
behalf of Webtvers who lost sites on Tripod. I received an email
response to that fact yesterday although what they would do was not
specified.
However I did mention that they should not promote anything dealing with
Lycos or Tripod.
For your references,the indiividual from Tripod who told you that the
real edits received mails about the deletions, was incorrect.
I have seen many receive the notices and then Tripod retract them when
confronted.
SOMEONE WAS working on the weekend at Tripod. It has been my experience
to know that someone always mans the phones at tripod on the weekend and
their FTP service..in case of probs.
Tripod lies and does what they want when they want to. An example was
back around 1999 when all the images were knocked off emails and and
remote linking for such was discontinued. We all protested and Tripod
returned the ability PARTIALLY. HOWEVER...not too long
afterwards...Tripod began to systematically delete sites..one by one for
individual UNFOUNDED reasons so that it was NOT possbile to protest as a
group.
I was one at that time :(
It is my GOOD guess that they will repeat this again.
They are in their rights to enforce the remote linking aspect of their
TOS. BUT to accuse their subscribers of FALSE OTHER violations, delete
their accounts without notice is INHUMAN.
One good thing came from their DISGUSTING behavior. A LEGAL web lesson.
That is to say...that EVEN on the web the laws can be twisted.
Thank God I am no longer with them.

I lost all 7 of my sites too. They NEVER once sent me ANY notification of their intentions OR that I was in violation of their TOS Agreement.
I am disabled and worked for 6 months from bed on my Webtv in late Dec. 1997. I had a Poetry Site, A Greeting Card Site, 2 Medical Sites for Fibromyalgia Patients, a SupportGroup Site, and recently and 50+ page Freebie Site. All gone..! I never linked outside of Tripod or did anything illegal..
I have been on a PC for the past 2 years and continue to build.
Well, yesterday they restored all sites except my "Best Daily Freebie's" Site to which they sent me this reply.
(Note* I had already retrieved all of my sites from "Good Ole Google.com" and moved to Geocities and then they restored them!) *Sigh* :o(
As of Wednesday, March 21st at 6:00 a.m. CDT. I still don't have my Freebie Site back.. All these years with them and they do this to us? Why? So sad....
PS: I just heard from a friend that Tripod was going Bankrupt?
I will send any articles if this checks out to be true.

They put my site back, good as new. I had just written about it. I am no
longer so trusting of free site now. Perhaps this was a good lesson. I
need to look into backing up the things I have out there. I have relied
heavily on Photopoint..for which I would pay. Hope that is a stable
source.

I think the Dot com stock situation is forcing the "free" stuff out can
well make us all take notice that real security lies in paying for
services. I wish that Webtv itself would let us pay for additional
storage space on the Webtv web page service. It would be nice to have
some additional options there too, but just the opportunity to have the
security of knowing things were safe with our regular provider would be
helpful.

I received an e-mail this tonight & an apology that my site had now been
restored!
So Happy.....this site had ALL of my Family photos....some were of my
ancestors.
Now I know I will mirror them somewhere for safety sake.
