Some of my favorite sites seem to have been involved in this "deletion".
"Glory B's Sing~A~Longs" is one of the sites that has been deleted,
supposedly for allowing the music to be down loaded. The few times I
visited the site, I did not see any indication, that they were promoting
down loading.
Are some of the sites being deleted, because they have experience
illegal activity, if so, that is unfair.
On every side, it feels like we "WebTV" users are unwanted. Perhaps it
is time to make ourselves heard, we are not small in number, however;
there is another side to this situation, we need to become more
knowledgable about the rules for using "WebTV". There are some very
good information sites about, proper use of email and band width theft.
Maybe more information on these subjects is needed.
You do a great job of keeping us informed, I find you indispensable.

I started out about 2 years ago with Tripod and they Deleted my site and
then turned around and said it was a mistake.
Don't go back to Tripod. It will happen again. They're a bunch of IDIOTS
there.

Sure they gave the site back...but here is the catch..they want more
information from me and others...but first you have to put in this 6
digit code they have on the page..only thing..it's almost impossible to
read and when you think you have it figured out..guess what.. it's
wrong..so you try another set of numbers.. wrong again...each time I go
back I get a different set of numbers and each time it is wrong.. Now
imagine that.. makes you wonder if Tripod has it out for webtv'ers. It
also is making a lot of us very angry. Thanks for your time. My log in
name at tripod is d-geltz. Well it was...and will be again if I am ever
allowed back in.

i can still get to my pages on the internet, but i cannot get into
tripod. when i log-in, i am automatically taken to a page saying we need
more information. i click on that and i am asked to type a certain
series of numbers into a form-box...the bad part is that Tripod has
intentionally made the numbers impossible to read. if you see the number and you try to enter it into yhe box, it says yu entered the
wrong number. i tried it over and over again. i have been very careful
to upload all of my images and sound-files to my homepage over the last
1 1/2 years since i started the site.
i hav'nt a clue as to why i cannot get to my homepage builder at tripod.
please help!
i have over 500 files in there including family photos, resume, gifs,
midees etc. plus a lot of html pages that i have been building for a
long, long time

Because remote linking is bandwidth theft. You need to get a paid website such as Domainia or WTV-Zone if you want to remote link.

Hi! As a former webtv user I know the hassles experienced when trying to do certain things on the net. After almost 3 years on a webtv I moved on to a computer. I LOVED my years with webtv, I just wanted to do more. It think it's great that there are so many more "toys" for webtv useres now. I also have a Tripod account, and they deleated my site "by accident" also, so it's not only webtv users they deleated. I did get my site back, and made sure to make backup copies of all files this time! bg Anyway, the point I was trying to make was that it wasn't just webtv users targeted. It's Saturday, the 24th, and my account is still gone. Tripod and Lycos
have not answered my e-mails. They did say it would be returned in 48
hours. That was over 72 hours ago.

My site was deleted by tripod and I'm still getting the "newsflash"
message when I try to go to it. My user name on tripod is [edited for privacy].
I've tryed emailing tripod with no reply as of yet.

My site was deleted on Sunday the 18th. I did not receive anything from
Tripod. I just went to log in and got a news flash message. On Tuesday
the 20th in the A.M. I received a letter that it had been restored, and
it was. That afternoon went to log in and it was gone again. I have
written to them and called and get no response. I have no idea if I did
something wrong, but don't believe I did.
My site is Globes & Eggs. I have over 300 snowglobes that I made. Also
Eggs, and Bordered Backs. I made everything myself with my WTV. I am one
of the lucky ones, as I did have a backup. The problem is that everyone
knows where the Tripod site is, but not the other one, so noone can find
me now.

My Tripod site was caught up in the mass deletions.
On March 20th I received an email from Tripod apologizing for the
deletion and promising to get the site back up within 48 hours. It's
now March 23rd and the site is still not up. I have emailed Tripod
numerous times in the past 2 days and they have not bothered to respond.
The site is a family site that pertains to my NG. There is no porn, or
spamming or remote linking. All I want is to be able to get my
codes/scripts back and I'll happily leave Tripod alone.

I don't know exactly to whom I should inquire/appeal. I have animated
graphics on my webpage and in my signature from draac.com and a message
on their board says effective march 5, tripod has elimated their access.
Now what does that bode/mean?

tripod. i have received an e-mail at the addy i signed up with and they
apologized and said they would replace my site in 48 hours. needless to
say that was much more then 48 hours ago!!! please do what you can to

My site Kathleens Kamelot was deleted late evening 3/17/01. I was
working in the file manager at the time and literally watched my files
disappear before my eyes. At first I thought I had hit a delete button
but when I tried to log back in I got the ever so complimentary "NEWS
FLASH" that said I had violated a TOS agreement. I never got a
notification or anything before that. I have since however recieved an
e-mail telling me that my site was not supposed to be deleted and that
It would be restored. I have yet to see it.
Anything you coud do to help me get it back would be very greatly
appreciated.

I know I have written before but I just had to do so again. According
to a friend of mine who has a tripod site that was deleted and restored
, she got a message on her tripod log in tonight that all deleted sites
had been restored.
Let me tell you they have not been restored. Mine is still among the
missing. I never received a notice of violation of terms just an apology
when I try to log in stating that it had been deleted in error and they
were working on restoring the site. This morning I ha an e-mail in my
excite mail box that again apologized and stated that they were working
on restoring my site.
I do not know what to think and am getting very frustrated. I have
sent them a letter asking where , when or what was going on with my site
however, I really doubt that I will ever receive an answer and don not
really know what to do.

Well the time limit has come and gone and my two sites are still not up.
And also my account is still showing EMPTY.
Is it only tripod? My site at geocities will not let anyone enter altho
I can still get into my file manager, am unable get my webpage up
I never recieved any emails from them or anything, in fact it seems
strange they would allow me into my file manager if I was in violation
of something. Are other geocities webtver's affected?

Date Removed: 3/17/01 (while I was editing the site.
Site Content: Several (5 or 6) JavaScript pages which created scrolling
text of original poetry with background images and midi music. Also
stored images and midis which I planned to use for other Web Pages.
When I tried to access the site on Monday, 3/19/01, I got their
"News Flash" apology for the site removal. I then received an E-Mail
apology on Tue, Mar 20, 2001, 3:53pm (EST or PST ???). As of today,
3/22/01, at 10:24am (PST), the site has still not been restored.
It certainly is taking them a long time to restore a "FEW" accidently
removed sites.
Personally, I don't ever expect to see the site restored, despite what
Tripod says.
That's the nature of the beast.

My deleted site has NOT been restored as of now. I only got a mail of
notification after i maled Tripod 3x. My site was [DELETED] Assorted
E-Mail Sigs. I had receiced many awards for my site & many signatures in
my GB compliments my site (which are now gone)

i just joined tripod a month before this all came about. i'm trying to
build a web site but so far haven't got enough infor ir ideas together
to do so successfully. let alone the experience....but tripod did send
me a letter advicing me that my site had beed restored. so i click on
what used to be my tripod home page,and i still get nothing but a page
telling me to answer few questions then log back in. I CAN"T LOG IN!!
those five or six security numbers i click on the gt back in ....no
matter how often i do it...i always get anther page that says those
numbers don't match the numbers i was told to enter!!! this suck!!
