[This site is swelling at the seams with all a novice or expert could wish for in one place. This user's webpages contains tutorials on HTML, from marquee's, audioscopes, slide shows and more. He shows how to make an image transparent, has a logo generator, a meta tag maker, graphics from A-Z, scrolling images, side borders, you name it, you have got to find it all here. He is also the Webmaster for WebTV's Top 100 sites and his webpage is listed with WTV-zone. And his military site is a must see!--ck]
Well, hello again. Once more I have found another great WebTV site to share with all of you. Sometimes it is difficult to find a site to write about because there are so many good sites to visit. I am constantly having them forwarded to me or told about by my friends and co-workers.
This weeks site is The Blue Fox Menu For WebTV. So let's get on with the interview, shall we?
I recently e-mailed Richard, the webmaster of The Blue Fox Menu For WebTV to get his thoughts on a few items. Richard told me how he became involved with WebTV. "I purchased a WebTV Classic in early December of 1998, unaware of the WebTV Plus units being available. I was interested in learning more about the Internet."
Richard said the first site he ever visited was "The Bold and the Beautiful." (Which, by the way, he says he never misses seeing or taping. LOL). This interest in the soap opera was due to his ex-wife and best friend."
Richard told me that he became interested in HTML (page building) when "I received an e-mail from another WebTV user that had music in the background and a banner in the signature. That's all it took. This new found friend explained a lot about WebTV and also introduced me to newsgroups, one of which is Tyhart." Here Richard really started to learn about HTML. Between reading posts and printing them, he got a lot of information to fill up a notebook. "After finding a web page, 'Jbird11,' and a testbed, I began practicing HTML from the beginning about this time and was very limited at best."
As time went by, Richard saved many valuable websites with a lot of help pages he thought would also help other WebTV users besides himself. "As a matter of fact, one of the first pages I printed and still have to this date is by Driver70 aka Patrick. Another is MCM 2000 Network. (Curtis is the founder and CEO)."
In February of 1999, Richard joined an HTML help group that included GlimerMann, aka David, The Picky Babe, and Spiritual Architect. "Driver70, (Patrick) joined the group soon afterwards, too."
When that group went by the wayside, Richard got involved with another group. "This is where I met my 'HTML' mentor, Curtis Munger. I learned a wealth of unforgettable knowledge from him. As a member of Curtis' help group, members were given an e-mail page designed by Curtis. It had a menu box containing many referral sites. When the page was eventually redesigned, The Blue Fox Menu For WebTV was launched."
In February of this year, Net4TV published his article about Searching For My Youth. After writing this article, Richard made contact with other individuals and received help from countless other people He eventually made telephone contact with his former platoon commander whom he had not heard from in 32 years. Richard is eternally grateful to Net4TV for having been given this opportunity.
Richard is also webmaster of WebTV Top 100 Sites, and also has a WebTV Site ring.
Richard also has a site dedicated to "All the men and women of all military branches who served and continue to serve to protect this great country."
The BlueFox tells me he has gained a lot of knowledge from books he has read and a few websites he has found along the way, such as, Tyhart's.
He also gained invaluable information along the way from Jerry11, Driver70, GlimerMann, The Professor, JaxRed, Beth Candy, Ken Dine, and WebWizard Tyhart.
I asked Richard what other interests he has besides WebTV and he said, "I like playing bridge, backgammon, cribbage, euchre, pinochle, and the pool tables (which helped pay for college tuition many moons ago - LOL)>"
Well, that's it for this week. I hope you all enjoy this article. Until next time, take care and be well.
Oh, and Richard sends a special hello to Miss Toots.
