[Sure, you think you have seen many gorgeous audioscopes, but wait until you feast your eyes upon these! And if you are looking for HTML help, you are sure to find it all here - backgrounds, midis, banners, colors, tools and even instant messengers but there is lots, lots more!--ck]
If you're like me, you love audioscopes. Well, I've found a place where you can view some of the best I've seen. Its Audioscopes and More and more is the word! Sam, who prefers to be known as "sman," runs this place. He has audioscopes, backgrounds, graphics, midis, dividers, icons, F-keys, clip-art, links, JavaScript, tools and PC users can even download the WebTV viewer there.
Sam is 27 years old and resides in Sidney, Ohio. He has two girls, ages 2 and 6. Sam says, "They are the meaning to my existence." Sam says he went through the big "D" about a year ago, so the Internet has become his second partner. When he's not on the net, which he admits he spends about 4 hours a night on, and on his weekends off that number tends to rise, Sam likes to spend time with his girls, fish, play just about every sport imaginable, and dabble in video games.
He bought his PM Classic, about 2 years ago, from Kmart. "I never intended to buy one. I was just walking through the store and came across it, and just had to get it." Sam said that when he first came online, he did the usual newbie thing which was to just surf around taking in all the sites. Then he came across this thing called chat and got hooked. "I started chatting in Neocities, an HTML chat, but not too many webbers were there." So he discovered Talk City and found it to be full of webbers and that's where he came to get his nic. "I was tired of people asking me if I was male or female, so I just added a n to my name and turned it around a bit, hence "sman."
Then one day, as he was surfing the net, he came across this thing that danced with music, the audioscope. "It was love at first sight," he said. Sam said he didn't start his webpage right off, but he did his e-mail signature box like most newbies do. While surfing one day, he came across the alt.discuss.homepage newsgroup. He read most of the posts, and "the whole idea of building a webpage caught my eye." Sam says he learned a lot in there.
Sam said, "Draacs HTML came easy to me, but I still stumbled a little bit." Then this nice couple, Dan_n_Carol, stepped in and helped him out a lot. As far as building the webpage, Sam says, "They bent over backwards to help me." That is why, today, he'll "lend a hand to anyone that asks, whatever it may be."
I asked Sam how he got the name for his site. "Well, it first started out as 'Sam's Scopes,' then flourished into today's name, Audioscopes and More." The scopes in his title are for the obvious reason, but the more, for other things he added to his site. Today, his counter reads about 15,000. Sam said, "Which means that I have put a successful site together and others seem to agree."
Sams mailbox stays quite full. He belongs to several great Egroups, one being "Expert HTML." "This is a wonderful band of WebTVers ready to lend a hand in any way they can. 'The Pub,' which is a private group of friends, is where we discuss and share anything WebTV. And my newest group to be a member of is the 'TAG Table Artists Guild.'" Which, by the way, Sam says has become his latest passion. "The group has the cream of the crop when it comes to gradtables," Sam said. "We are also in the process of creating a website where webbers may visit and see the talent that creates such wonderful exhibits."
Sam says he fell madly in love with gradtables when he first viewed them and since then, that is all he has focused on. Sam said he just finished his Index Page where you may view his works of art.
Sam said when he needs a break from all the numbers, he tends to surf some of his mentors, when it comes to gradtables. The Table Guy, LOBONE, PAULIE, and the soon to be finished site, The Guild. Sam also stays close to his roots and posts when he can, at a great group, known as alt.discuss.homepage.opinions. And just about every other gradtable artist's site he can find. Sam said, "The webber has been good to me the past 2 years."
I asked Sam if he had any particular likes or dislikes about WebTV. "Sure, WebTV could improve on a few things. For one, try testing the upgrades more before they release them and try fixing the problems that they have arising from the upgrades in the past." Sam also said, "Putting audioscopes back in e-mail would put a smile on my face." But overall, Sam said he wouldn't want to surf the net any other way. So when you get a chance stop by and visit him. And Sam said, "If you ever need any help on anything, just beep me." Sam also relayed that if he can't help you, he'll be sure to find someone who can. Sam said, "That's one thing we have over 'puter user's in my opinion...the way most of us stick together and help each other out."
Sam, I couldn't agree more!!! ~dunc
