JKS2000, aka Conch-mon, is from Rhode Island and has resided in Key Largo, Florida for 11 years. He and his wife, Judy, will be leaving the Keys shortly to live in Palm Beach Gardens to "be back in the real world and closer to family."
The reason his wife purchased the WebTV unit was to bring them a little closer to family through e-mail, which they believe was a good choice. "My WebTV was a present from Judy last Christmas, so it is almost an anniversary for us on the net. We chose the WebTV Plus unit so we could also watch TV. Once involved online, we forgot about TV. (It happens to the best of us! LOL) The only problem I had in the beginning was that the keyboard was on back order, and I had to use the keyboard on the screen - not good! (Ah, we know what you mean! LOL)/P>
He started out writing e-mail to family and friends. "In one e-mail I received, there was a signature on it with music and all!! I wrote back and asked how it was done. I was sent to the draac.com site. Then I was off and running! I played with signatures until May when WebTV gave us the ability to make pages with the page builder! My first attempt was Kens Conch Republic!" And it is a beautiful site to visit if you intend to visit the Florida Keys anytime soon!
At that time, he was "hanging" out and learning HTML in the discuss.html newsgroup and the Rhode Island State group where "I met angel155, who invited me to the alt.discuss.homepage.opinions newsgroup. I have been in this group since June. HomePage Opinions or HPO is where I hang my Santa Helper's hat! LOL! I am on the staff there as the PR man for the group. My job is to try and bring people here so the group can give opinions on their homepage. We have a great staff - Nautical Girl (my teacher), Irish Drunk, Baby Doll, (the leader), KTRose, Zacheia, Angel155, Blue Satin and me, Conch-mon. We all have jobs to do for the newsgroup. I think it is one of the best groups on the net! We also have a great group of regular posters!"

He made his homepage to help others find what they needed for their Christmas pages without surfing the Internet! "I hope I helped a few!"
Conch-mon has also made an award page - Christmas - Santa's Helper Award. "I use this to give everyone who posts their Christmas page at HPO. The 'Santa's Helper Award' and their page is also listed there for all to see. I think this is going over very well and there are some great Christmas pages listed there."
Offline, he is a chief engineer for a major hotel chain. "When I am not in HPO, I am boating and fishing. Judy and I both love that pastime!"
Conch-mon would like to see WebTV offer real audio, and have the ability to be on the buddies list with AOL! "I don't think that will ever happen! When I received my box, I had no idea what we could do! And I think it exceeded everyone's idea about WebTV. Now that we are learning more...we want more, but I still have fun with my box!"
After almost a year, Conch-mon has started to build pages with another server. "I now think I know enough to make pages there! Remember, we are all winners!"

I especially enjoyed your Christmas trivia...you stumped me on when Christmas tree lights were first used. However, I knew where poinsettias were originally grown but I won't give the answer out here! :-)--ck]
