You are correct. The harddrive is removed from the new plus unit. However the new plus unit has an 8 meg replacement,not much, to handle the job of the harddrive. Why do you think they removed the harddrive? To stop the unauthorized download of programs. And yes web tv does not want you to download due to the fact that if you download a bug then the whole network gets it.
